Ma collection de Pentax (p. 1) My Pentax Collection
It's all my brother's fault.

In the early '60s he bought a Pentax SLR and eventually sold it to me (an S1a), then when I bought my first new camera it had to be a Pentax (a K-1000). When I bought my first digital camera (a Samsung 210 SE) I sold the K-1000 and lenses (unfortunately). A few years later after having graduated to a Nikon Coolpix 4600 digital I accepted the fact that there are situations when a digital point and shoot just isn't up to the task. Like for car races.
I consulted with my brother on getting a decent 35mm SLR for those special occasions.

He went through his extensive collection of Pentax material and came up with a venerable SP 500 with 4 lenses and various other bits and pieces - all I would need, along with the Nikon and Samsung digitals... but, he also was doing some buying of Pentaxes on eBay, so I started watching what was available and quickly found a relatively modern and very clean MZ-50 right here in Montreal. At that point I thought what with the old SP 500 screw mount and the MZ-50 it would be cool to have an old K-1000 or other vintage K mount Pentax... then I got adicted. The rest is history as explained in the following pages.

(N.B. - photos with a blue border can be enlarged by clicking on them.)

The SP 500 with Super-Takumar 1:2/55 lens mounted, the Soligor 1:3.5 f=135mm telephoto with its telextender, Image f=28mm 1:2.8 wide angle and Impakt 1:2.8 f=3.5 wide angle plus some extension tubes are for macro photography.

The MZ-50, Sigma 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 mounted and the Sigma 100-300mm 1:4.5-6.7 telephoto. On the bottom of the camera is the battery pack I added.

Then I bought this MX with a SMC Pentax M 1:2 50mm lens. It had been dropped on its head, but most of it worked except the light meter, the shutter speed indicator...

... and the exposure counter. Pretty dirty inside and the light seals needed replacing. Here it is opened up.

Next I found an "as-is" ME with a Gemini f1:2.8 135mm lense. When it arrive it was very clean and everything worked!
UPDATE: This MX has gone to a better world, I gave it to my brother. I have more confidence in his ability to take it apart, fix it and put it back together then I do in mine!
